A Fitting Tribute to Helen & Bob Seay

Dundalkappella is Dedicated in Memory of Helen & Bob Seay,
Dundalk’s A-Cappella Pioneers.

At the end of World War II, a young couple – Helen & Bob Seay – reunited and planted roots in Dundalk, where they raised their family for 53 years. Helen was an accomplished musician, and Bob loved to sing.

Naturally, their home was filled with music, and each of their five children learned to play at least two instruments. But singing and harmonizing was a routine part of everyday life in the Seay household.

Shortly after joining the Dundalk Community Chorus in the early ‘50s, Bob and Helen decided to start their own choruses. Bob founded the Chorus of the Chesapeake in 1954 – which went on to win international championships in 1961 and 1971. Helen co-founded the Dundalk Sweet Adelines in 1956.

Everyone who knows the Seay family is enraptured by their passion for music of all kinds and their special abilities to share it with the rest of us.

Helen & Bob Seay really started something, and we are the grateful beneficiaries.
