About Baltimore AMP

The Baltimore Art and Music Project, formerly Project Millennium Inc. (PMI), was founded in 1994 by Carla Crisp, a mother who wanted to establish a fun, safe, nurturing environment for her sons and other teens to create and enjoy music. The organization was successful and grew by leaps and bounds, admirably serving thousands of young people – many of whom had been discounted and disenfranchised by the adults in their lives.

Three years ago, PMI was tapped by the Dundalk Renaissance Corporation to bring events and vitality to Dundalk’s Main Street – which it did with gusto. In 2006, Carla was recognized as Dundalk’s Citizen of the Year; and in 2007, she was named Baltimore County Woman of the Year and a Hometown Hero by the American Red Cross.

In 2008, PMI changed its name to Baltimore Art & Music Project in order to make its mission more obvious, broaden its horizons, open doors to new opportunities, and widen its circle of service to a larger community with the healing powers of art, culture and music for all ages.

One of Baltimore Art & Music Projects’ greatest achievements was finally accomplished…. on May 17th 2008. After 5 ½ years, the Gateway Sculpture – designed and constructed by Baltimore Art & Music Project volunteers – was installed on the Dundalk Avenue train trestle. This triumph is a true symbol of the perseverance and hard work by many dedicated people who would not give up. Dreams can become a reality. It is with this mindset, we continue to inspire – and be inspired by – those we seek to serve.

Through events like “Dundalk-appella” and private donations, Baltimore Art & Music Project hopes to fund the acquisition of a building that will serve as a cultural and social hub for young people and the community at large – a place to create and experience music, art and social responsibility.

Please support Baltimore Art & Music Project and the arts for youth and community.
